Pretty soon the entire city will be blanketed in tiny crystals. According to WWD, the Herald Square space Tourneau just abandoned is set to become yet another Swarovski. Unlike the little Fifth Avenue boutique that opened this past August or the Crystallized shop and café that debuted in Soho last June, the 34th Street shop will be a Crystal Source, which is apparently a totally different way of merchandising sparkly things.
The Crystal Source concept just hit America in November, when Swarovki opened a Chicago store "designed to look like a modern crystal forest." The Chicago store carries the full Swarovski line-up, but spokespeople for the brand weren't sure the same would be true of the Herald Square space. What we do know: It's going to be right next to the entrance to Penn Station, meaning that shoppers can pick up some bling on their way out of town.
