Williamsburgers Plan to Boycott Bedford Avenue's Duane Reade

Williamsburg residents are mobilizing against Bedford Avenue's incoming Duane Reade the only way they know how: Through Facebook. Right now, there are not one but two Facebook groups calling on people to boycott the chain, which has already established a location closer to the waterfront. Opening on Bedford is a much more aggressive move, though, because the spot sits directly across from neighborhood institution King's Pharmacy. So far, the Facebook groups aren't huge—one has ten members, one has 32—but we suspect the movement will grow if Starbucks ever confirms the rumor that it's taking over the retail space next door.
