In the latest twist in the continuously unfolding Emmanuel Ungaro saga, the New York Post reports that Ungaro's owner Asim Abdullah is in talks with luxury tycoon Matteo Marzotto to sell the label. (Readers may remember Marzotto, a former Valentino Chairman, as Naomi Campbell's ex who first claimed that she hit him while they were dating, then recanted.) The article also cites the rumor that Abdullah is courting former designer Giambattista Valli to return to the embattled label. Speaking of designers (or "designers"), the most interesting piece of information is that Ungaro is bound by a 3-year contract to pay former artistic advisor Lindsay Lohan $1.5 million per year. This latest tidbit conflicts with the last Post report that Lohan was paid in trade. [NYP, previously]
