Operations has departed Mercer Street in Soho, disappointing its many fans. But while the store is closed and there's a big "Space for Rent" sign in the window, the location is still cluttered with merchandise and other artifacts. "The place is strewn not only with light trash, but also with fixtures, merchandise, bust forms, mannequins, samples and whatever else somebody forgot to take along after leaving," reports the Shophound.

Back in May of last year, Operations shut down its relatively new Meatpacking District store. At the time, the COO promised that the Soho location would stay in business, adding that the company's online wholesale business was thriving. Clearly, times were just too tough. As the Choosy Beggar put it in a succinct epitaph: "Nice clothes, good press, solid vision, tough market."
