In just five days, Apple will release the iPad, and the world of computing while hunching over your lap will never be the same. The iPad will be available at all 221 Apple stores, including the four in Manhattan. Sales start at 9am everywhere including the Fifth Avenue cube, which plans to disrupt its 24-hour service by closing from precisely 12:01am to 9am on Saturday, the better to torment the fanboys and fangirls camping out in front of the store.
Certain Best Buys will also carry the iPad. We've got our money on Union Square, but the Geek Squad there couldn't give us any specific information. (As soon as Best Buy gives us the details about which locations will have Pads in stock, we'll pass that along.) Meanwhile, it also sounds like there's going to be some kind of special iPad promotion in the middle of the month, according to a leaked internal memo.
