In response to the rumors flying about yesterday, the owner of Emmanuel Ungaro, Asim Abdullah, officially denies that the fashion house is up for sale. Abdullah tells today's WWD, “it’s absolutely not true. The company is not for sale”. The company strategy for now is to to "rationalize costs" in an effort to be "sustainable" by next year. Sticking with legitimate, proven designers and avoiding flashy gimmicks could be a start. It is official though: a smaller Ungaro boutique will open next month in the also struggling Plaza Retail Collection. Could this be the end of the Lohan curse? [WWD, subscription req'd, previously]
