Eighties icon and mass fashion stalwart, Esprit is aiming to regain their traction with the opening of the largest US flagship on 34th Street on Wednesday Thursday. The opening will also introduce de.corp, a brand new "urban" label launching in the U.S. The three-level 18,000 square foot flagship will carry the men's and women's casual and collection and the youthful edc line. The new store aims to connect with shoppers with a new modern design featuring a glass staircase with floating steps, stainless steel details, paneling from re-purposed wood and road trip themed décor like car junkyard murals and cacti upholstered with denim.
Here is a sampling of items that shoppers will find in the store: grey leather jackets ($349.50) and silk dresses with twist detail ($129.50) from the collection line. Fear not fond 80's fans, from the edc collection there are acid-washed grommet leggings ($69.50) and last, but not least, the iconic Esprit logo sweatshirt for a 2010 price of $45. To open the flagship, on Wednesday and Thursday Thursday and Friday, the store will hold a "Love it or Leave it" promotion. The first 50 shoppers to arrive at 9:00am, 12:00pm and 5:30pm will receive a wristband to exchange the clothes off their back to give to charity for free outfits worth $150 or less. Click here for an invitation. Depending on the success of the new flagship, there could be more opportunities for freestanding stores in Manhattan and across the country.
