This week, the Critical Shopper pays a visit to LES indie fashion haven Assembly New York and waxes lyrical about linen. After dabbling with an unfortunate pair J. Crew linen trousers in college, Jon Caramanica decides to upgrade and investigate how far the fabric has advanced. He peruses the boutique's selection backpacks ($128), pleated pants ($284) and embellished Yamamoto-esque blazers (on sale for $338), then lovingly describes a black shirt with a long attached scarf ($318). After checking out the rest of Assembly's wares, the critical shopping heads on over to the adjacent Robert Geller pop-up where we learn Robert Geller loves the Jersey Shore, too! [NYT]
