After the big announcement of the $3 billion PVH-Hilfiger deal, now rumor has it that the higher ups at PVH are concerned with not only owning Hilfiger the company, but also the actual name "Tommy Hilfiger". The big worry is that the enterprising designer will one day try to capitalize on his own name to sell clothing and other goods outside of the PVH deal. Inside sources claim that prior to the acquisition, PVH spoke with lawyers about ways to control the designer from doing so, but no official statements have come from either side about the issue.
