Best Buy Isn't Staffing from East Harlem; Pink Gives Out Cupcakes

EAST HARLEM—Best Buy is set to become the second big box store to open at East River Plaza, following Costco's launch late last year. Best Buy promised to hire 60% of its employees from the neighborhood, but according to DNAinfo, it isn't on track to hit that goal. This news comes not long after Costco laid off 160 of its workers, suggesting that the Plaza isn't quite the boon to East Harlem that locals hoped it would be. [DNAinfo]

NEW YORK CITY—Victoria Secret throws open the doors to its Pink boutique in Soho this Saturday, and to build excitement, they've commandeered the Cupcake Stop truck for the next three days. Through Saturday, they'll be appearing in various locations around the city to hand out cupcakes frosted with a vanilla butter-cream frosting in a color "crafted exclusively for Victoria's Secret PINK." And tomorrow and Friday, they'll be selling Pink merchandise alongside the free treats. [RackedWire]
