Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Right now, Calvin Klein's New York image seems directly tied to the bare and sculpted posterior of model David Agbodji, but the brand's Soho underwear store is taking a different approach. Instead of gratuitous nudity, they're giving us gratuitous violence, with mannequins stabbed through the chest behind a giant, dripping heart. We assume those oversized spears are arrows from a massive and terrifying Cupid. The overall message? "Love hurts."
