Through Sunday, feminine haute-hippie brand Callalilai is hosting a sample sale in the back of their quaint Union Square location. The sale includes four racks of clothing: One dedicated to tribal-print sweaters and sweater dresses for $49, two others for jersey and cotton printed dresses and tunics, and the last one for elaborately embroidered silk dress and tunic samples ($69 to $99) . There are also a number of boxes stuffed with t-shirts for $29, plus one box with few random items for $15 or $20.
The good news about this sale is that the pieces are interesting, unique, and plentiful. The store itself is gorgeous, and there was little foot traffic when we were there, making for a pleasant browsing experience. Don't go looking for the label's leather bags or for $15 silk dresses, but do go if you're in the market for something stand-out, preferably a dress and preferably for spring—the winter rack was rather sparse.—Lauren Frankfort
