Chanel made a sword!

Chanel Fine Jewelry made a sword. Seriously, Chanel made a sword to mark the recent induction of conductor William Christie into the Académie des Beaux-Arts. According to Suzy Menkes, the hilt is enameled with red and white tulips and incorporated natural materials including wood and rock crystal in honor of Christie's love of nature. And the couture didn't stop with a Chanel sword. We can only imagine that Mr. Christie was officially the envy of fashion people across the globe, as his Academician’s coat was tailored by Christian Lacroix and embroidered by François Lesage. Anybody else wishing they'd practiced the piano more? [NYT]
