Rebecca Taylor's show early yesterday afternoon in the Salon at Bryant Park was mobbed. Sophia Bush, Michelle Trachtenberg, Carmen Electra, Whitney Port, Olivia Palermo, Kristen Bell, Alexis Dziena, Ramona and Kelly from Real Housewives of New York—just to name a few—all graced the front row with their presence. Apparently Carmen Electra and Ramona are BFF; they were chatting it up nonstop during the show. (We could hear Ramona's laugh from across the runway). At the end of the runway sat Kate Lanphear next to Fern Mallis, but those were the only major fashion insiders we spotted.
The line itself brought freshness to tonal mismatching. Taylor took shades of plum, teal, hunter green, camel and grey, and cranked them down to create soft neutrals. She also incorporated the bow trend, but subtly, tying together fur vests and belted woolen shorts with thin leather cords. The silhouettes varied from a bib top and leopard-print bomber jacket to a wide-leg woolen trouser and on to beautiful silk dresses, skirts and tops fringed with feathers. Many looks were topped off with bowler hats. Each outfit incorporated a little sparkle whether it was woven in the tweed, the feathered fringes, or on the sparkly navy tights (much like at Lorick—are we sensing a trend?) Celeb row gave some encouraging smiles throughout the short show, and we even noticed Mena Suvari whisper to her companion, "I love her." Mena, we can't help but agree.—Lauren Frankfort
