Liveblogging the Shows: Luca Luca

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In an effort to make reading Racked NY as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: flattering femininity from Luca Luca.

Show location: The Promenade at Bryant Park
The skinny: Luca Luca is known for a modern and elegant aesthetic made for a the woman who's as busy as she is fashionable. This time around, the label collaborated with jewelry designer DANNIJO to complement the runway looks with their bohemian rock-and-roll edge.
Celebs spotted: Tinsley Mortimer, Constantine Maroulis, Carol Alt, Kelly Bensimon and Irina Pantaeva. Plus "Other Andrew" from Kell on Earth was working the show.
The takeaway: Creative Designer Raul Melgoza was inspired by the contour and sculpture of architecture, so the looks were full of contrasts and juxtaposition of colors, textures and fabrics. The first look out was a silver taffeta trench, then the looks segued into pewter beading, blacks, whites, shades of purple, blues and gold and silvers. Fabrics included chiffon, silks, tweeds, silk brocades and of course, leather. The 36 looks were a fantastic combination of strong and sexy, plus flattering and wearable dresses, separates and jackets. And DANNIJO's edgy jewelry and belts perfectly complemented the ensembles.

10:41am: There's lots of buzz back here with press and last minute touch ups, but otherwise very orderly.

10:43am: Ooh! Tinsley and Constantine are back here!

10:55am: Now I've arrived at the front check-in to a big crowd waiting. They just started to let people in.

10:59am: Poeple in line are getting super pushy (literally and figuratively). The girl behind me just said to her friend, "That lady is the President of Luca Luca so she should know your mom."

11:05am: Just entered and bypassed the mob scene out front. Taking a check of the seats and Fren Mallis has a seat but just overheard she's not coming. Socialite Samantha Traina, lots of editors. Lisa Airan has a seat.

11:06am: Carol Alt is here doing interviews. She loves Luca Luca.

11:13am: OMG! It's the Other Andrew from Kell on Earth working the show!

11:15am: He just said hi. Irina Pantaeva the model is here, too.

11:22am: They've been trying to move people into their seats for awhile now. Hopefully it'll start soon.

11:28am: Got a seat, it's starting.

11:28am: Music is loud, first look, pewter leather trench. Metallic tunic dress.

11:29am: Lots of black, eggplant, dark metallics. The Dannijo jewelry and belts really complement the looks, too.

11:32am: A good mix of versatile looks that professional women can wear. Love this eggplant blouse paired with a black and white abstract skirt.

11:33am: Gold sequin dress with a keyhole back and front. Now we're seeing pale blues and gold.

11:35am: A few leather pieces too, like a sexy mini dress (knee length), and more forgiving leather jeans.

11:37am: I forgot to mention earlier, I took an InStyle editor's second row seat and am next to the Dannijo sister jewelry designers. The rocker accessories are great with the clothes.

11:38am: Now we're seeing dep lavenders and iridescent light purples.

11:40am: Long cream cross halter dress, and another evening look in pewter with a beaded bodice.

11:41am: Last look: Long silver cowl-neck gown.

11:41am: Kelly Bensimon is across from me!

11:42am: We were taking her pic, and she's hurrying us saying, "I gotta go," just like on the show. See, it really is reality! OK, we're out. Join us for backstage coverage in a bit!
