Despite the relatively small line (and small ratio of women to men), the ladies' shoe section of the Barneys Warehouse Sale filled up immediately. There were some familiar styles from last season's sale, with multiple markdowns in red, but the selection was dizzying, as usual. Styles ranged from seasonal boots to studded gladiators and sizes ran from 5 to 11.
The best deals are to be found in the selection of Barneys Coop label shoes (basic black peep toes, strappies, tan suede studded booties and more) on sale from $109 to a little over $170. Other wallet friendly temptations were Loeffler Randall mary janes with gold studs for $180.23 Jean Michel Cazabat cream and tan peep-toe oxford heels for $179.50 and Marc by Marc Jacobs studded wedge gladiators for $149.50 down from $495. We even unearthed a pair of black peep toe, slingback, cork-heel platform Louboutins for $186, down from $465, in a size 10.
Of course, we can always dream, as most shoes are priced above $400. That's when we salivated over Pierre Hardy's electric blue suede and wide elastic strappies for $387 and black snakeskin, patent-detail booties for $615 (down from $919). Other labels spotted were Moschino, Marni, Lanvin, Dries Van Noten, and Bottega Veneta. There were a few Manolo Blahniks and YSLs, but not many. The few Givenchy items included a nice, but still pricey pair of black flat boots with chain detail for $515.23, down from $1290 and baby pink jelly gladiators for $95, down from $165.
Then shoe section was crowded, but not as insane as usual, possibly owing to all the frugal fashionistas distracted by Fashion Week, so there was breathing room to try on styles. Per usual, shoppers will select their styles to purchase and staffers will package the items for you. Now, onto womenswear!
