Earlier this afternoon, past Project Runway favorite Daniel Vosovic presented his Fall/Winter collection far on the West Side at ExitArt. Arriving early, we earned a sneak peak backstage during hair and makeup and a chance to observe the friendly and calm Daniel gathering his team for a pep talk and then meticulously setting up the models for the presentation.
The theme of the collection is "Chiseled", inspired from a late night walk in Washington Square Park observing the Arch and monuments. The shapes were very defined, with skirts forming arch shapes and strong angles on the shoulders. Edgy suit jackets featured delicate chain embellishments, mixed with stones in brooch designs. Beautifully draped and tucked dresses featured prints reminiscent of marble and earth toned precious stones. The soft knits were also architectural and innovative, yet wearable. We also love how he made pleated pants sexy and feminine.
The models were posed on stark white blocks with abstract nature images projected onto the white walls behind them. Chill house and ambient provided the background music for chic and stylish guests to mingle and marvel at the designs. Daniel was a social butterfly mingling with he crowd and when Kristen Johnston (aka the late Lexi Featherston from Sex and the City and recently of Ugly Betty) arrived, he walked her through the collection. Bravo executive and Housewife mediator, Andy Cohen and Nina Garcia were also expected.
