Right now, cold, wet fashion folks are standing in line at Bryant Park, waiting to get the official Mercedes-Benz credentials that will allow them access to the tents. While some of today's early presentations have been canceled, Fashion Week is forging ahead, 18 inches of snow or no. We're a little worried that the tent is going to collapse, but we're very excited to see all the creative ways people handle the footwear conundrum this weather presents.
This Fashion Week, Racked NY is going to handle things a little bit differently. Instead of dropping retail news to flood the zone with nonstop coverage, we're going to let our brand-new sister handle most of the big national shows. That gives us more space to cover the week's other gigantic event, the Barneys Warehouse Sale, which kicks off tomorrow morning at 8am. We'll be liveblogging the line and bringing you steady reports on what we find once we breach the doors. As the week goes on, expect news on other upcoming sales (including two really promising boutique blowouts in Brooklyn) plus everything you could possibly want to know about the Opening Ceremony in the Ace Hotel, which opens this Sunday.
We won't be skipping Fashion Week entirely, of course; check back for liveblogs and reports from all sorts of New York-based shows, from DKNY to native son Michael Kors. And if you're snowed in this weekend, check out our coverage: We're going to hit up a lot of shows between Friday night and Monday morning.
As always, please send us your tips! Scenes from the Barney's line, snow-related chaos outside the tents, particularly clever waterproofing solutions: We want it all.
