Jeremiah's Vanishing New York brings news that Aphrodisia Herb Shoppe shut its doors for the last time yesterday. The shop had been selling delicious-smelling and -tasting botanicals on Bleecker between Cornelia and Morton since 1969 and was known in the neighborhood for its elderly cats, who were once subjects of a Villager profile. A tipster tells Jeremiah that the store was leaving due to a drastic rent increase—from $9,000 to $18,000.
