Over in the Garment District, you can get Kenneth Cole and Cynthia Steffe samples for the same price you'll pay for a cab ride there. And, unlike just being full of markdowns in name, this sample sale is a legitimate sale of samples—the sizing of the random stock is on the small end and a bit of a mystery, and when Sugar Rock Catwalk attended, the crowd was full of patternmakers.
The prices at this one are pretty absurd: Cynthia Steffe samples are only $20—though leather and outerwear will set you back $50 — and everything else is $10. $10! You could either buy a sandwich at Dean & Deluca for that money, or something fabulous to wear while eating it.
The majority of the sale is said to be Kenneth Cole, so you might have to fight for the Steffe finds—one blogger experienced afrenzy of chaos, with line cutters, elevator waits, and people being told to stop taking their clothes off. With prices this cheap, we almost can't blame the ladies for going crazy.
