After 25 years in business, Bedford Avenue's Deli Mart has shut its doors due to a 40% increase in rent. The closing of the deli, which is directly next to the Bedford L entrance, could mark a huge shift in what businesses will remain in the area. There are still plenty of places to grab a soda, but with Duane Reade's recent immersion into the neighborhood and Northside Pharmacy and The Bagel Store's rents also nearly doubling, it seems that the corporation train could be about to pull into the Bedford Avenue station.
