Coming to the Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea next month—Francesco Vezzoli's signature reinterpretations of Renaissance Madonna-and-child paintings. Reinterpretated how? Well, a litany of supermodels (Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, etc.) stand in for the standard Blessed Virgin; and mother and son each shed massive needlework tears. Vezzoli plans on transforming the massive gallery space into a chapel for the show—and it opens January 20th.
