Times Square just scored another low-priced retailer: Daffy's has signed a lease in the former home of the New York Times. The building, on 44th between Seventh and Eighth, already houses the shiny new midtown outpost of Bowlmor Lanes and Discovery's exposition space. According to the Wall Street Journal, recruiting Daffy's is a coup for developer Africa Israel USA, which has had trouble finding tenants since buying the building in 2007. In the past year, though, the neighborhood has blossomed as a shopping district, so it's not a surprise that Daffy's would want to join stores like Forever 21 and American Eagle in divesting the tourists of their New York clothing budgets.
