Looks like Eloise won't have competition after all. In October, we discussed how Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was in talks to become both the face and body of a new gym supposedly to open at The Plaza. And while many shuddered at the thought of having The Situation associated with The Plaza in any capacity, wouldn't we all be satisfied with a body like his? He was in talks to offer personal ab workouts to patrons of the hotel (in the space that used to be the Radu Fitness Center), but luckily, this has come to a complete halt.
After the Charlie Sheen escapades that recently tainted the high tea-drinking image of NYC's finest hotel establishment, the top dogs at The Plaza just didn't think it was the right fit for their brand. And we couldn't agree more. Is an abundance of Ed Hardy hats and bedazzled tees paired with radiant pink Juicy Couture sweat suits really the vibe they were going for? Don't think so. But, it certainly would give GTL a new meaning. -Yale Breslin
