Forget Black Friday: Upcoming Sales from DVF, Vena Cava, and Botkier

Black Friday for serious shoppers is like Halloween or New Year's Eve for serious revelers: Amateur hour. This year, skip the chaos entirely and save your money for these three upcoming sample sales. Not only do they offer better deals than most of Friday's promotions, but they'll give you a good excuse to spend Friday morning in bed sleeping off a turkey hangover.

1.) Diane von Furstenberg: The always-epic semi-annual sample sale returns Tuesday, December 7 and runs through Friday, December 10 at 260 Fifth Avenue. Expect markdowns of 75% off on a huge selection of DVF's colorful, flattering dresses, coats, tops, and swimwear. Will you have to wait in a crazy line? Most likely. Will it be worth it? Most definitely.

2.) Vena Cava: In excellent news for hipsters and people with limited impulse control, the label's sample sale is just six days after Black Friday. Surely you can hold out six days for the chance to shop the downtown duo's Art Deco-meets-ancient-Egypt-meets-the-'70s dresses and tops at major discounts. Last time around, they were charging $175 for dresses, $125 for tops, and $75 for shoes, plus early arrivals got a crack at $20 samples. The sale runs from December 2 to December 4 at 457 Broome Street, #2F.

3.) Botkier: Also next week is Botkier's semi-annual sale, which kicks off Friday, December 3 and runs through Sunday, December 5. Nothing draws a line like a Botkier sale, but shoppers' fortitude will be rewarded with the brand's hot bags, accessories, and shoes priced at 50% to 75% off. Look for the queue to begin bright and early that Friday at 421 West Broadway.
