On the same day that Christian Dior removes the purse facade on its newly remodeled 57th Street boutique, the brand will also shutter its 870 Madison Avenue location. The shop's opening-closing on December 9 will leave Manhattan with one less Dior, and possibly fewer marked-down goods for sale.
Madison Avenue Spy found out that Dior's seasonal sale has been thrown off schedule by the move. Staffers will be transferring all of the UES shop's merchandise to the Midtown East location, but the blog brings up a good point when they say they "can't imagine" the boutique moving an old collection to the new store.
Employees are speculating that the sale will start on December 1 and be cut short, or that the merchandise will either head straight to the outlet. Either way, we just hope their construction-covering handbag is on markdown, too. Forget the old woman who lived in the shoe?some crafty renovator could become the girl who made her home in the Dior purse.
