Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The up to 70% off brand new designer deals for girls at the Housing Works sale are pretty fantastic, but dare we say that it might be even better for the guys. At least that was the look of things at the preview last night when hoards of gentlemen eagerly descended upon the $150 Brooks Brothers suits and coats with the fervor usually reserved for female shoppers at a Manolo Blahnik sample sale.

As we mentioned in the womenswear report, Brooks Brothers has bestowed upon Housing Works the largest donation to date. Seeing that the two-piece suits usually run $1000+ and you can wear one of these forever, we weren't surprised by the mad rush for the power pinstripes, dashing checks, conservative greys, and basic blacks.

The diminutive selection of $150 Brooks Brothers outerwear also yielded some finds like a long hooded double-breasted cashmere camel coat and a swanky herringbone knee-length coat with black velvet lapels.

There is a large selection of Hugo Boss suit jackets for a mere $75 each On the racks, there is a rainbow selection of bold brights, a plethora of plaids (some with natty elbow patches), and flashy copper hues. Also be sure to check out the super suave John Varvatos leather biker jackets priced at $400 (retailing at $2295) as well as Converse by John Varvatos seasonal flannels for $60 and knitwear for $65.

As for shirting, there is a ton of selection. From Marc Jacobs, shoppers will find basic blue button downs for $75 and more substantial plaid styles for $95. Theory shirting runs about $65 each, Ben Sherman button downs are on tap for $35 each, and Ralph Lauren beats everyone with the best deal with a selection of plaids, stripes and basics all for $25 each.

Definitely take a look through the ties. We found some skinny ones from Band of Outsiders for just $25 each. At the back of the store, there are Clae kicks—high-tops, low-tops, colorful suede, sleek leather, you name it. The only caveat is that they're unmarked size wise, but for $65 each, they're worth a few tries.

There are a few dressing rooms for fitting and the friendly and extremely well-groomed sales associates are on hand for styling and fitting assistance. Definitely keep an eye out for George, who was amazingly helpful. Mostly everything is out on the floor and restocking will be slim. Hopefully the guys from last night didn't totally clean house, but definitely head over early for the best selection.
