Thakoon and Zac Posen Hold Semi-Secret Sales

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This week isn't just filled with big, open-to-the-public sample sales—it's also crammed with smaller, under-the-radar friends and family events. Two of the most exciting are the Zac Posen sale at 13–17 Laight Street in Tribeca and the Thakoon sale in suite 1005 at 270 Lafayette in Soho. Both run today and tomorrow, and both are technically private, but nobody's going to stop you if you just walk in.

When Mizhattan dropped by Zac Posen earlier, she found the designer himself standing amid insanely well-priced pieces you might recognize from recent runways. Evening gowns are $200, cocktail and day dresses are $125, and tops cost under $100—including jackets. Get a silk blouse for $50, or nab one for $35 from Z Spoke. But go soon: At those prices, the good stuff is going fast. (Head to the Dealfeed for hours and other details.)

As for Thakoon, details are sketchier. The hours aren't public, although Sugar Rock Catwalk speculates that it will end at 6:30pm. And no one's blogged about the selection, although ubiquitous fashion Twitterer Jim Shi stopped by yesterday and posted some pictures of shoes, including Manolos for $75 and new Guiseppe Zanotti booties for $425. Last time around, we found dresses, tops and leggings for $150 to $200—here's hoping prices haven't jumped since then.
