Some of the reusable totes sold by grocery stores as an alternative to plastic bags have been found to contain lead So far supermarket chains with NYC branches, like Trader Joe's, haven't been implicated, but studies have found lead in bags from CVS and Wegmans. Moral of the story: Skip the designated grocery bags entirely and just get a big cotton carryall. [NYT]
