Sexy Underthings and Fancy Boudoir Shoes at La Perla

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The work crowds were quickly descending upon the day two of the La Perla sale when we stopped by around lunchtime. Shopping for 80% off of the luxe label's lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear and ready-to-wear, ladies (and a few nervous-looking gentlemen) were on a determined hunt through the goods.

Let's start from inside out. Bras start at $50 (or two for $80) for the basic black, nude and white and go up to $80 each (or $140 for two) for the ones with more flair (including the Black label). The bras are organized by size in marked boxes running from 32B to 38D. Sadly the A's and E's of all torso sizes are relegated to a lone box marked "A & E".

Bottoms and sexy garters start at $30 (or two for $50) for the basic and $50 (or two for $80) for the fancier patterned or lacy ones. We also saw some some high-end Spanx-like body suits that run $50 each. The full price list is in the photo gallery.

Lingerie, nightgowns and a few pieces of posh outside clothes are located in the back of the sale. Chemises start at $80 for the basic and run to $110 for the fancier ones. There were also some serious feathered bra and g-string separates that looked like a fancier version of something you'd see on the VS runway show, plus some really adorable polka dot baby doll chemise and robe sets for $150.

Oddly enough, we found the best deal of the day to be the $70 shoes, especially one towering pair of black satin platforms with a satin ribbon ankle tie and laser cut detail. There is also swimwear: two-pieces for $90 and one-pieces for $100 each.

Menswear—including what looked like dad-polos for $25, plus dad-jeans, shorts and swim trunks for $15—hangs on a single rack, giving the boys something to do other than avoid eye contact with female shoppers.

Know your size before going—there is no fitting area. Cash and credit are accepted; look for a bag and coat check at the door. Staffers confirm that they will be restocking. Do note, though, that if La Perla is a bit too rich for your blood, Hanky Panky will be kicking off their big sale tomorrow morning at 260 Fifth Avenue.
