Japanese beauty line Shiseido is jumping on the pop-up train by opening its first ever one-week temporary outpost in midtown. The pop-up, which introduces new fall skincare and makeup products, is more about the experience—as in free samples and gratis services—and no expectation of purchase because, hello, there's nothing for sale on the premises. In other words, it's impossible to wind up in one of those post-free-services guilt-purchase scenarios.
Visitors first enter the pop-up on the corner of Third and 59th Street and start the experience with a complimentary cup of steaming hot green tea. The skin care area is one level up and all guests are treated to two sets of samples: the Future Solution LX Eye and Lip Contour Regenerating Cream and a series of three Bio Performance products.
The regenerating cream sample also includes a voucher for a free 7-day sample of the cream at any Shiseido retailer. Here, guests can also enjoy complimentary mini-face and eye massages given by specialists who show you how to properly apply the fancy new Shiseido products.
The expansive makeup section is on the third floor. Up here, guests will receive a Perfect Mascara sample (nice for travel), a cute little Perfect Rouge lipstick and a tiny bottle of eye and lip color remover to take it all off. The new makeup products are displayed up here, too, including seven eye trios inspired by artistic director Dick Page's photo art pieces, a limited edition palette, plus tons of lipsticks, eyeliners, primers and concealers. For even more fun, there are two make up stations and artists on hand to offer touch-ups with the new fall colors and products.
All guests will also receive a set of vouchers for a complimentary 45-minute facial massage (no purchase necessary) and deluxe (i.e. larger size) samples (purchase necessary) at Bloomingdale's. You knew there had to be an opportunity to spend some cash somewhere along the line! Bloomie's is conveniently located diagonally across the street from the pop-up. The Shiseido pop-up runs from today through Friday, November 19th.
