Kenny Moscot, co-owner of the beloved Lower East Side eyeglass store, has passed away of an undisclosed illness. He was 40. "At a time in which many historic companies have moved from the Lower East Side or shut down altogether, Moscot is a big success story," writes the Lo-Down in a tribute. "Kenny and his older brother, Harvey, are credited with turning a 'mom and pop store' into a major force in the fashion and eyewear industries." Donations in Kenny's honor can be made to Moscot MobileEyes, a charity that gives poor New Yorkers access to high-quality eyecare. [The Lo-Down]
