Today in Critical Shopper, Jon Caramanica takes on Moncler's hallway-sized shop, which literally left him out in the cold. Ironically, he was stuck outside glaring at a fox fur-covered mannequin for fifteen minutes while waiting to shop for puffy ski jackets—the store would only let in ten customers at a time. When he was finally allowed to browse the items, he found that a handful of the special ones, like a pair of black lace-up mountain boots, weren't even for sale. His recommendation for staying warm without bucking up the dough for one of the brand's pricey jackets that are available for purchase?
