West Village resident Gary Stern is mad at hell at Marc Jacobs, and he's not going to take it anymore. Angry that Bleecker Street's candy stores and bodegas have been booted for high-end retail, Stern has recruited Mike Joyce, the artist behind the "More Jane Jacobs, Less Marc Jacobs" t-shirts, to...do something. It's a little unclear whether Stern has a real plan in mind—last month he asked Community Board 2 to stop Jacobs, but they don't have much power over who rents storefronts on Bleecker. Still, rest assured that he will not be shopping at Bookmarc anytime soon. [The Villager]
