Last night Gilt Groupe held its first sale in tandem with Vogue, and the magazine's editors stocked the site with a series of safari-themed "steals" for the first installment of their new partnership. Every month Vogue will find something under $500 and present it as part of the new "steal of the month" program along with some other picks.
Last night's program of safari-theme resort clothes started with a See by Chloé tie-front shirt for $385. Other items up last night include a Giles & Brother necklace for $165 and the swirly S Sung Audrey dress in a batik-print silk and cotton blend for $443.
We found ourselves wanting a lot of the clothes that the sale pieces were styled with, like the snug blazer and plaid shirt someone paired with See By Chloé's roll-down pants, though the pants looked pretty slouchy-chic in their own right. Boutique 9 provided some brown ankle boots for just $148, but after that things devolved to a bunch of Dooney & Burke bags for $250 each. We're torn on this new promotion. Good idea, or gimmick?
