OMG, WWD is reporting that Gucci is launching an haute couture line of its own. With the world constantly ringing death knells for couture, a new player is always exciting news. According to WWD, sources say that Frida Giannini is allegedly designing pieces for the debut collection as we speak. Unfortunately for all of us haute couture geeks, Gucci Couture will not show on a Paris runway, and will instead be available on a by-appointment basis. An haute couture label could let Gucci dress top celebrities at big-ticket red-carpet events. [WWD]
