On Tuesday we told you about a pretty amazing eBay discovery we made—the '90s Moschino bomber pictured above that one of our favorite TV drunks, Edina Monsoon on Absolutely Fabulous, donned in early episodes of the British sitcom that has impacted the lives of Racked writers in profound and embarrassing ways. A Twitter tweet and a reblog on Jezebel later and that eBay bargain turned into a fashionista bidding war that we didn't partake in because, though tempted, the piece just wouldn't fit us (a tragedy we've been faced with before). You took our advice—shopping vicariously is so economical!
Seller botolina74, of Scandicci, Italy must not have known what hit her (or realized the pop cultural significance of the item because it's not mentioned in her listing and certainly would have impacted bids even without our eagle eyes and nimble typing fingers). In the first four days of the auction she received a mere five bids bringing the cost to just under $20.
Then in five hours following our post an additional 26 bids rolled in bringing the item to $355. It now stands at $360 and there are almost three days left. At this rate whichever lucky lady brings this home is going to be spending full retail. At least it'll be closer to 1991 full retail than 2010 full retail.
So, may the most fabulous win! We'll keep you posted, sweetie darlings.
