Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Some of us are kind of suckers for things that look like other things, so we're pretty enamored of this leather bag from KimKim Artifacts. The limited-edition bags are designed as an "homage to the honesty in ordinary products" and assembled in Los Angeles of Italian leather. We love the craftsmanship and all the detail they went into to make this really look like a plain paper grocery store bag, including the jagged top edge and the envelope-folded bottom. It can be purchased online for $399. It's also available in black, but that ruins the illusion for us. Would you carry a faux paper bag?
