Sarah Jessica Parker was reported to be joining Halston last week, and today WWD has the details of the deal, and it sounds pretty good for the actress. She'll be joining Halston as president and chief creative officer, and as part of the deal she'll get a seat on the board of directors and an equity stake in the firm.
"It is unclear how much Parker invested in Halston, or if she put any of her own money toward it at all," WWD reported. "... [Parker] stressed she doesn't view her role at Halston as a part-time gig, and noted on several occasions that she is fully committed to the project." They drew comparisons to celebrities-turned-designer Victoria Beckham and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Parker says she has no intention of interfering with creative director Marios Schwab's first runway show at New York Fashion Week next month. "That is his domain, and he was quite far along in the process when I came into the conversation," she told WWD. "I know as an actor it is not a process one interrupts. He has to be allowed his freedom to do what he feels is right and good, and authentically and organically his point of view?and I am excited by that. There is no point in hiring somebody and then undermining them, and nor do I have any interest in doing so."
