Before Christmas, Madison Avenue Spy broke the news that the Yves Saint Laurent at Madison and 71st was closing. Now, Fashion Week Daily reports that the store has packed up and left. So is it time to worry about the brand? Not necessarily, but you might want to spare some compassion for the Upper East Side. Rumor has it that YSL wants to open another Manhattan store, and while they haven't picked a location, we're guessing this closing means Madison Avenue isn't on the short list. FWD uses the occasion to run through a list of other recent local shutters; for a more comprehensive (though slightly older) look, check out our Upper East Side reorganization map.
