Ladies and gentlemen, Fashion Week has officially begun. Or unofficially, rather, since the Mercedes-Benz–sponsored tent festivities don't kick off until tomorrow. Still, when Rachel Comey's models walked a rooftop catwalk this morning, they ushered in a week devoted to nothing but clothes and the people who make them. Comey showed her collection, in shades of "rusts and marigolds" (per Fabric Mag's Twitter) while St. Vincent played mellow autumnal covers of classic rock songs—a little Steve Miller, a little Tom Petty. If anyone else promised pantslessness and fanny packs for spring, we'd be perturbed, but Comey is a master at melding the sexy and the geeky in a way that neutralizes the problems with both. Based on Teen Vogue's video, the show looked like a gentle sendoff into Fashion Week. From here on out, it's only going to get crazier.
