SOHO—Is opening a new store on Fashion's Night Out a good idea, because you'll get the foot traffic, or a bad idea, because nobody will be paying attention to you unless you're giving them a singing designer or a dancing supermodel or possibly a dunk tank to gawk at? We genuinely don't know the answer to that question, but it seems like Original Penguin is going to find out. [RackedWire]
NEW YORK CITY—Tomorrow marks the start of two weeks' worth of major sales from Housing Works. The non-profit spent the warm-weather months collecting fall merchandise—items like Gucci bags, Prada shoes, and DVF dresses—and now they're unloading everything at low prices at Housings Works locations across the city. This year, they also got sample sale powerhouse Gilt to donate never-worn clothing, mostly from Walter and Cynthia Steffe; each store is getting approximately 40 pieces from the stash. If all this sounds promising to you, stop by the Tribeca store at 119 Chambers Street tomorrow between 5pm and 8pm, or check their site for other times and locations over the next few weeks.
