A one-day-only sample sale is taking place right now in the Hickey showroom but despite the line out the door when it opened at 10am and the buzzy, well-healed shoppers cramming the place there wasn't a whole lot to get excited about.

The sale takes place in one small room lined with a few sparsely populated (and quickly thinning out) racks of Hickey and Hart Schaffner Marx shirting for $10 to $40. A few interesting suits and blazers (but no classics you'll be wearing ten years down the road) were $150 to $200; and some unique leather, wool and canvas outerwear including peacoats, trenches and varsity-style jackets started at $150. Ties (a steal at $10), sweaters ($40) and a few random pairs of boots ($150) and sandals ($10) filled a small table in the center of the room. There were a number of great pieces but many had been spotted at previous Hickey sales, sizes were sample only (jackets in 40 regulars, a lot of mediums), and what was there was going fast. Get there now, guys, or just wait for the next one.
