Storecasting: Harlem's N Boutique Returns with a T-Shirt Line

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

N Boutique, uptown purveyor of womenswear, menswear, and home goods by everyone from Paul Smith to Hayden-Harnett to Alexis Bittar, disappeared from 116th Street between Lenox and Seventh about three months ago. It wasn't closed, just taking a leave of absence while it underwent a makeover. In October, the new and improved shop will open on Lenox between 118th and 119th, in a spot that's smaller than the old bi-level place but much more conducive to foot traffic. They're also launching an e-commerce site, and celebrating with a brand-new line of "Harlem Is the New Black" t-shirts, including slogan tees and shirts celebrating icons like Billie Holiday and Josephine Baker. The shirts run $20-$35—expect more clothing, including cashmere, to follow soon.
