Ripped-off designers find their lawsuit group has become a support network. The designers, who include Phillip Lim, Lutz & Patmos, Behnaz Sarafpour, Chris Benz, Band of Outsiders, Costello Tagliapietra, Erin Fetherston and Loeffler Randall, filed a suit against Chicago retailer Jake for unpaid orders. Although Jake co-founder Lance Lawson insists the suit will not be successful, the designers say the experience has a bright side: It created a network that lets designers check up on stores they might be considering working with, and a way to warn others when retailers stop paying their bills.—EL [WWD]
