The Hayden-Harnett sample sale kicked off with a bang, opening a few minutes early due to a few eager shoppers waiting to beat the door down. The sale is offering 60% off spring/summer bags and up to 80% off apparel. There are also shoes (and samples, so booties and some boots!) for $50 and boots for $100 a pair (note: majority of the footwear come in sizes 5 and 6).
Let's start with the bags, which run from $5 for canvas items and wallets to roughly $250+ for leather numbers. The bags in the bins are priced as marked ($150-$250) and the bags on the shelves and racks are 60% off the retail price (ex. $219.20 for a woven shoulder bag). Even though the items are from spring and summer there are plenty of bags in dark rich blacks, greys and browns, perfect for fall and winter. There is also a damaged bin with items from $75 for canvas to $150 for leather. The irregularity for each bag is noted on the price tag. Most are just missing a stud, so take a look and see if it works for you.
Additional good investments are belted leather jackets in brown, black and grey for 75% off of $578—which comes out to a very reasonable $144.50. The clothes are 80% off (ex. $59.60 for a trench and $65.60 for a multi-colored print dress), plus samples (mostly $70 and up) and vintage as marked. Accessory highlights include wallets under $100 and cute studded leather cuffs for $35 each.
Sources say that the Nolita location has more selection, but hurry over to either one soon as the sale was being quickly ravaged 20 minutes in. Most shoppers were clutching up to 5 bags each and a devoted son was spotted risking his life guarding his mother's coveted pile of size 6 boots.
