As always, Jill Stuart held her show in the foyer of the New York Public Library, and as always, the place was crawling with celebrities. For a brief moment we were literally surrounded with Real Housewives: Caroline and Dina Manzo from New Jersey on our left, Sheree Whitfield from Atlanta on our right, and Kelly Bensimon from New York behind us. Along one side of the beautiful, stone-walled space sat Rachel Bilson, Amanda Bynes, Nikki Hilton, Leigh Lezark, Kelly Rowland, and Kim Kardashian. On our way out, we spotted Gail Simmons from Top Chef, Real Housewives Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin and LuAnn de Lesseps, and America's Next Top Model judges Miss J and Nigel Barker. It was a madhouse.

When the models finally started coming down the t-shaped runway, our first thought was that they each looked like the toughest girl in the ice dancing competition. Which isn't meant to sound negative—we were just seeing a lot of very short dresses covered with spangles. Eventually the silhouettes got more diverse, but the level of embellishment remained the same. Everything was beaded, braided, studded, fringed, or some combination thereof. We saw bandleader jackets, powerful shoulders and the influence of both Balmain and Gareth Pugh. Colors were dark and bold and generally not very springlike, which seems to be a spring trend.
