After our cold reception at Cynthia Rowley only an hour prior, we didn't know what to expect back at the Bryant Park tents for the Nicole Miller Spring/Summer 2010 show. However, it was immediatley after we entered the smallest venue, The Salon, that we knew our fortunes had turned for the better.
Sitting second row in an intimate show, we were directly behind Elle's Roberta Myers and Kate Lanphear, who are stunning in their own right, and we were even up close. Also less than five feet away was Paper's Mickey Boardman, who jumped into one of our pictures of another guy, and directly across the runway from us was Vogue's Tonne Goodman and the celebrity row of Amber Rose, Ciara, and Amerie. Amerie was sporting thigh-high boots with a Nicole Miller dress that had us in a tizzy for Miller before the show even began.
As opposed to some of the more extreme shows thus far this season (ex: Ronson's ripped leather shorts and BCBG's revealing body con dresses), the looks shown by Nicole Miller will appeal to a larger audience. There's the leather and leggings and downtown chic look so few can properly pull off, but then also silky, flattering cocktail dresses, some jazzed up with a swirled marble print in colors evocative of the solar system.
In particular, we saw Amber Rose perk up at this look, while we felt some crazy gravitational pull towards this dress and this dress. We mean, who doesn't love lots of black interspersed with metallic accents and a surprise burst of iridescence? That's what we thought.
So the celebrities were really just the icing on an already yummy cake, one we'd buy and secretly scarf down whole, although from the smile on her face, we guess Tonne Goodman would happily join in.
