Liveblogging the Shows: Cynthia Steffe

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: Fun, feminine looks from Cynthia Steffe.

Show location:
The Salon at Bryant Park
The skinny: Youthful playtime day dresses and separates for young women and women who want to be young
Celebs spotted: Some girl who was interviewed by several people and posed 900 times but no-one around us had a clue who she was
The takeaway: Short-alls, overalls, jumpsuits and onesies, as well as slouchy, short dresses and summery separates in whites, soft yellows, gray-lavendars and silver metallics for any trends-stickler's trip to Bermuda. Adorable trenches, cropped motorcycle jackets with softened edges, questionable cropped blouses and skinny jeans is shining silks, soft canvases and chintz-printed denim. Cute, flirty, a little cloying and ridden with of-the-minute detailing (drawstrings and pockets on everything)—women will buy this stuff.

9:18am: In line to sign in. Why must the tiniest women insist in carrying such huge umbrellas? I've already been stabbed 200 times.

9:30am: I'm inside with a standing room ticket, and it's totally mobbed—definitely not going to be able to wrangle a free seat. I don't recognize anyone famous, but then, it's 9:30 on a rainy Friday morning.

9:32am: Someone is getting interviewed and photographed, but nobody around has any idea who it is.

9:33am: Starting. Chintz floral! Ruffles! Slim jumpsuits and trenches.

9:37am: It's all very young and flirty.

9:38am: Now I'm seeing soft denim motorcycle boleros. Everything has pockets.

9:39am: Enough with the short-alls!

9:41am: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are playing—they're really going after the young and hip. Lots of sheen, citrus silks. Too many drawstrings!

9:43am: Baggy cropped blouses, really? And bandaged-wrapped everything, everywhere—just stop.

9:45am: Evening is starting: Lots of beads, short, silver. They are playing Saint Eteinne! Love!

9:47am: The end. Cute. Short. Kind of cloyingly trendy but will sell well.
