In an effort to make reading Racked as much like being in the tents as humanly possible, we'll be liveblogging the shows all week, from the suspense of waiting in line (will the seats be any good?) to the drama of the runway (will anyone stumble?) to the post-show euphoria. This time around: looks from luxury brand Ports 1961.
Show Location: The Tent, Bryant Park
The skinny: Extremely Asian-influence ethereal feminity from designer Tia Cibani.
Celebs spotted: infamous dandy Patrick MacDonald, and that's it.
The takeaway: The show commenced with much white, in gauze and silk and every lightweight fabric you can imagine. Occasional interjections of a blush pink or pale blue continued the mild bridal theme, which was driven home with the final dress: a white column with folds and strategic sparkles enough to satisfy only a very refined woman.
3:04pm: Okay. We're in and seated. Fourth row and the runway is patterned to evoke a zen garden.
3:16pm: Crowd dressed in mainly black and drab. No celebs, but Philip Bloch ?
3:19pm: People here look very moneyed; many older men with petite Asian girls on their arms?
3:20pm: There is one girl here wearing red and she sticks out like a sore thumb.
3:22pm: It's filling up fast now ? People getting interviewed but no celebs yet. Should start in ten minutes.
3:25pm: Patrick McDonald spotted!!! Sporting a green velvet bowler hat!
3:30pm: It must be embarrassing for people to get dressed super-showy, have their pictures taken, and be last row or standing?
3:34pm: Patrick said he liked my camera! I'm toting a Lomo Diana in here as well ?
3:45pm: Even though we are in the middle of Manhattan, there is no effing service!
4:00pm: Seriously, this tent has issues with both cell and WiFi service. On the runway now: white gauze and very light fabrics.
4:05pm: Easter colors, or perhaps a spring wedding? Nonetheless, designed for an educated, older woman.
